Falkirk 0 Hibernian 3, just as Big G predicted.
That is the way to do it Hibs. Set up to play football, and play football we did. Three well taken goals, some magic from Allan, a late equaliser for the Gunts and 3500 Hibs fans left happy. Can I say, last September, we were a mess, so credit to the players, Alan Stubbs and his assistants, and those who work in the background. We were a deserved second in the league.
So to the players…
Oxley – Had an easy day, and kept a clean sheet. Four more of those and we will be playing in the top league next season Mark.
Forster – He was having a good game, when he suffered both a head knock and landed badly on his ankle, looked a sore one and he was carried off.
Hanlon – Just like last week, never lost a ball all game, Paul was at his best again today.
Fontaine – Liam played well today, although he has a tendency to wander too much for me.
Stevenson – Lewis played very well, I just wish he could take a man on and beat him.
Robertson – Strolled through the game doing what he does best, breaking up play, and playing the simple pass, the very same as last week.
Craig – Liam Craig has not really done it for Hibs, but the last two games, I think he has been very good. He again worked hard today, got as tore in as he can, and led the team well.
Scott Allan – Scott is a joy to watch sometimes, he really is. He enjoyed himself today. He was frankly ripping the pish on occasion.
Boyle – Took his goal very well, and done a good shift until taking a sore one in a hard challenge from Tiawo.
Cummings – Scored as ever, and today Jason really did play well, he scored a good goal, humiliating that gorgie spanner McDonald in doing do, set up Dom for his goal with a lovely dink through and generally played as well as I have seen him play in the first team.
Malonga – Could have had a couple first half, took his goal very well second half. He can be very frustrating to watch, but today he worked well and gave his all.
Gray – On for the injured Forster around 50 minutes and looked like he had never been away.
Stanton – On for Boyle and Sam didn’t really get involved if truth be told.
Fyvie – On for Cummings with five or so minutes to go. Got plenty of the ball.
Stubbs and the Gang – I like what you did there Alan, I like it a lot, I said that last week. Nice football, again a clever early change of tactics from a 3 5 2 to 4 4 2. I went home feeling entertained and feeling good about Hibernian again. Thank you.
Referee – Could have had more Falkirk players in the book, chose not too.
Falkirk – Get that right up you, you red faced, big mouthed Hearts tit Houston. They do play some nice football and I like the look of Sibbald, their number 10, good player. I hope Inverness blooter them in the final though.
For the second week in a row, a good performance by Hibernian, some fine individual performances and clever tactical approach from Stubbs and his team.
Man of the match – I though Craig and Malonga had good games, as did Cummings and Scott Allan had moments of pure magic. However I felt Paul Hanlon was magnificent all game and he gets my man of the match.
Finally, Hibs fans, last week I suggested we get ourselves to Falkirk, get behind the lads and see us over the line. 3500 did, which is fantastic, well done each and every one of us, we really do support them ever more.
