Our next Branch meeting will take place on Thursday 6th August at 7.30 in the Hibernian Supporters Association Club. The 6th of August is the 140th Anniversary of the founding of the greatest fitba’ team in the history of the beautiful game. 2015 is also the 25th Anniversary of the attempted liquidation of the Hibs by the predatory Chairman of Hearts ,Wallace Mercer.

A cursory look at both the fight for survival  against the odds, of the the fledgling Hibernian Football Club, against both the Edinburgh and Scottish football establishments and the magnificent resilience of Hibs supporters during the Hands off Hibs campaign exemplifies the spirit which has always existed at Hibs and always will.

Alan Lugton will read extracts from his excellent ‘The Making of Hibernian’ Vol 1 which covers the period from the Club’s founding in 1875 to 1893, when the poor Edinburgh Irish emerged as a non-sectarian community Club.

We are also delighted to have as guests two Hibernian stalwarts who, like Alan, have a shared love of Hibernian and were playing for Hibs during the attempted Mercer coup, Michael Weir and Keith Wright will be doing a Q and A session.

Due to the importance of both of these events we will minimise the business part of the meeting and open it up to Hibernian Supporters wishing to attend. Hibernian FC have approached the Branch and indicated that they would like representation at the meeting  as have the Hibernian Supporters Association.

See you on the 6th.
