St. Patrick’s Branch of Hibernian Supporters.

 Dear Members

I am pleased to bring you news of our forthcoming St. Patrick’s Celebration Weekend, 16th & 17th March.

As you may know, we have said in the past that the St Patrick’s day celebration is the biggest in our Branches’ Calendar year , and it’s grand to be able to say, we can look forward to this year with a great deal of  pleasure and anticipation, and look forward to Sunday 17 March, with more than a little bit of pride.

On Saturday 16th March we invite all members and friends, to come along and celebrate our traditional St. Patrick’s Night in the Hibs Club from 7.30 till late, offering live folk music from Andy Craig, Irish dancers, as well as an Irish themed Disco. You also have the chance to try a bowl of ‘Hibs Clubs’ legendary Irish Stew. A Night not to be missed, so see our advertising poster on the Home Page for details.

Please see committee members for tickets priced at £5 or apply via PayPal on the Membership Page, giving your name and the number of tickets required, please state: ‘request for tickets’. Tickets are expected to go quickly so please buy or apply now to save disappointment.

On Sunday 17th March we celebrate St. Patrick’s Day itself, with the unveiling and presentation of a Commemorative Plaque from our Branch to the Parish of Saint Patrick’s (the birthplace of Hibernian Football Club). The Presentation will take place at Saint Patrick’s Church (Cowgate) following the Parish’s St. Patrick’s Day Celebration Mass at 11am. (presentation at 12 noon).

I am sure, if you know your history’ , you know Hibernian F.C. was founded in the Parish on the 6th August 1875. Our Presentation on St. Patrick’s Day, will, as far as we are aware, be the first ever posted recognition within the Parish of this historic fact. A true reflection of our branch’s historic links with name of St. Patrick’s for all our members and those associated or related in some way with the Church,  those linked to the Cowgate and Old Town, or those unrelated to church or area, but who do know their history!  Whatever your connection, this will certainly be a little bit of history made possible by you St. Patrick’s Branch Members.

As this is the Parish feast day, falling as it does this year on a Sunday, it is anticipated a large attendance at the Church. However St. Patrick’s Parish has asked specifically that as many of our Branch Members and their friends attend the 11am Mass and the following Presentation. We hope also to have representation from Hibernian F.C. and the Team (this to be confirmed). There will be some drinks and nibbles following the presentation, therefore it would as a matter of courtesy be good to give some indication of our numbers attending Mass at 11am, or the presentation at 12noon. If you could respond giving an indication that you and how many friends intend being there at the 11am Mass or 12 noon Presentation. Please head any email ‘Attending St. Pat’s’,  I would be obliged. A little bit of History not to be missed!

So, get the Green & White scarfs on, your Branch Badge ready (not to miss an opportunity available at £2.50 from the treasurer), your dancing shoes polished and your hearts ready to burst with pride, St. Patrick’s weekend, 42 sleeps to go!
